I have been thinking a lot about what words could describe these past two weeks but I keep coming up short. The Christmas Eve bonfire, the completed house, the incredible generosity of the family we built for, some life long friendships were started and some strengthened, Neil pretending to be superman over Harv’s shoulders, Barb’s ’special gift’ and wrestling matches… the list goes on and on! As the bus pulled away from the hotel in San Diego the other day, Tricia and I shared a few smiles and stories together. We have never felt so supported, encouraged and cared for. To the Manitoba crew (and Emily!), thank you so much for everything. We can only count the days till our paths cross again!

Christmas - The Remix…
We rolled into our hometown at 5am Saturday on 12 inches of fresh snow. The trip home included an overheating bus on the Cajon Pass in California, ice fog on the Monida Pass in Montana, black ice complete with crashed rigs on I-90, frozen brakes in Bismarck, yet we savoured every minute of it, wishing this trip was not ending.
Charles, Tricia, Ryan & Michelle and everyone else involved, you made this an incredible two weeks!
Christmas will never be the same…
THANK YOU
Response to “Unexplainable” Just wanted you to know how you have changed our lives…so often I ran through the scenario of who Charles and Tricia were and what Hero Holiday was about but never did my mind come close to the impact you would have on us and how you would steal our hearts…we love you sooo much and think you are doing such amazing things…from a special motor oil ceremony for the dead (explain that one Charles) to an incredible taste in gifts (even the perfect color and size, green is my favorite!!) to getting stuck on the beach with the bus (bright move!!) to giving so much of yourselves…always ready with a hug, a kind word, and stories about what drives you to do the things you do and what creates that passion in your hearts…we share the same passion and I can hardly wait to see when and where we will meet up again…you’ve got our utmost respect and love!!! p.s. Charles, you fight like a girl!!!
You guys are the best! We are missing you dearly. Our boys are talking about you non stop and are dreaming about their visit to your place.
Sounds like it was an interesting drive home. Glad you all made it safely!
Happy New Year.
Thank you to you hero holiday people from me as well. I had such and amazing time, definatly a life changing experience. I sure hope you can make it out here for a visit sometime. You would be very welcome. Can’t wait to see you again. I will be praying for you and the families and teams that you will be working with. Again, thanks for making this possible.
Hey, missing you guys so much…crazy how a heart can stay in one place and the body has to go back home…loved seeing the pictures of the new house…and seeing Carla and her family!! So cool to have linked with them as well and seeing that their lives will also be changed…so many of the kids adored Carla and will be thrilled to know that her house is finished!! (We could have built our house in 2 days but we didn’t want to be show-offs to all the other teams who need 3 or more days to finish a house!!!!) Give our love to Santiago (we saw him in a few pictures and miss him alot too!) We are thinking about Vincente Guerrero so much of the time and are scheming on how we can get back there…soon!! Tell the boys that we are missing them as well and that I’m getting my tractor ready for them!! Love you guys lots!! (Can’t wait for the next fight - you’ll be begging and pleading for mercy - just like the fist one!)
