Adding it up…
The last Hero Holiday of the summer leaves for the Mexico from BC in a bit over 2 weeks. It has been a great summer so far, 3 trips down, 1 to Mexico, 2 to the DR and 3 trips left. Switch that around now, 2 to Mexico and 1 to the DR. The next Hero Holidays in Mexico will be numbers 7 and 8 of 2008 for this country. Each group and each team holds their own uniqueness and flavour, and every team effects a number of people and communities here.
Let me introduce you to 3 more families whose lives will be forever changed by a group of Canadians. The Hero Holiday that is coming to Mexico on our coach bus for the last 2 weeks of August will be building for the following families.
Vicenta, age 41, is a single mother of 7. Her kids range from ages 2-17, and there are a total of 11 people living in their house now. I use the term ‘house’ quite liberally, it is mostly cardboard and tarps.
The second site is home to Maria and Ricardo and their 3 young boys. And variety of dogs.
Site number 3 belongs to Socorro, 34, and her husband Alfonso, 48. They ave 2 teen children living with them, a daughter who is 14 and a son who is 16.
All this equals a very busy 2 weeks and an opportunity to make a difference in many lives.
