…this is where we ended up!
School Project #1
The Clinic. Not bad for starting from scratch, I’d say!
The upstairs classrooms. Kind of hard to take pictures that do it justice. There are 4 classrooms under construction here.
The fence project. It’s a bit hard to see, but to the right of those bricks - all the way around the property - a trench was dug and filled with cement and the rebar for the fence. That’s a lot of pickaxes and shovels!
We have stairs!!!
This is our guard dog. He never left his post the whole time we were there. Gotta protect that dirt pile!
School Project #2
The view from the top of the hill
Looking a little closer
The baƱo pit
Our community party at the dump
After visiting the dump so many times over the last couple of weeks, we’ve made some friends. We threw them a party at the end of the trip, complete with music, dancing, a pig roast, rice and beans, fresh water and gifts for all the children.
Well, I’m excited to see the photos from this next trip. I returned back to Canada a couple of days ago just in time to meet all of the participants for the final Dominican trip of the summer. I could tell right away that they are a pretty amazing bunch! Wish I could be there with them…BUT Hero Holiday Mexico is just around the corner!

Wow. What a change from the first week. Everything looks amazing. Good jobs everyone! I am so impressed and I’m glad to have been a part of it!
Cathy,
Thank you for posting pictures and descriptions. You write well and I am there once again. I am amazed at the progress achieved in one summer. I love watching the work change shape from where I left it. What a privelege to participate in this program!

Wow!! I can’t believe what a difference two more weeks makes! I was just looking over my pictures today of the first week and remebering how hard it was for team three to break ground at the Congreo site. It looks so different now!! It’s amazing to see what team work and effort can do. I’m extremely proud to have been a part of it!
