I am here visiting my parents for a few days and thought I’d jump online to see if there were any additions to the blog. Now I’m crying because I miss all your faces. I hope you all remembered to call your parents when you arrived back in Canada. (I got in trouble from my mom for not calling her!) Isn’t it strange being home? No one says “Hola” as you pass by. I’ve caught myself saying “si” instead of yes, and “gracias” instead of thank-you. It’s amazing how quickly we adapt to another culture when completely immersed in it, even for such a short time frame. Now we all see through different coloured lenses. I’ve been reading your conversations on flickr regarding the “shock” of returning to Canada, the responses of friends and family who may or may not fully understand your experience. Let me encourage you to not judge another by their reactions or actions. A few short weeks ago, wouldn’t your responses have been similar? Now that you have seen the other side of life - tasted, touched, smelled and walked in the middle of poverty - your perspective has changed. Remember what Vaden talked about in debriefing: don’t reject your own culture. We are blessed and highly favoured with a great inheritance: We are Canadian. (Or if you’re Sarah, American
We have the tools, the education, the resources and the passion to change our world. We are positioned for this time in history. Let this experience influence your everyday choices and your future. You have what it takes to make a difference on the planet. I believe in you.

Hi Cathy! Hope you are finally getting some rest?? Miss you all so much. My kids are still saying Gracias to me!
Will the slides that were shown during the debrief be posted soon? I missed them…and would love to see them.
much love

Yes, the slide show pictures were great. Those were Gusi’s pics so I don’t know what the time frame is on having them available. I guess they’ll be posted on our website when he’s got them ready.
Bless you Cathy! I’m so glad you are “home” with your parents… and hopefully resting up! You and the Absolute crew have once again lead our kids to an experience of a life time… and they are better and fuller people for it!
Stay well… and keep us posted… I’m quite sure this is not the last time Heather will be involved with Absolute! LOL
Much love

Hi Cathy, you are truly a Hero too! You raise up and encourage the people around you to be Heros. That’s amazing. Thanks for believing in the kids, thanks for believing in Alix and Zachary especially. I believe in them too!
And in terms of how it’s impacted them, I not sure it’s totally evident at the moment, but I know it has. We have so much to be thankful and grateful for in our live’s…and it’s about love. It’s about knowing we are loved unconditionally and giving that love away to the people around us - that is what Hero holiday is about to me and it’s what you seem so very good at doing. God Bless you and have a great summer!!! Alix and Zack have said they’ll definitely be back next year and they’re even talking about wanting to go on a March break trip??????
